El Mundo (Argentina)
''El Mundo'' (''The World'') was a daily morning paper published in Buenos Aires, Argentina by Editorial Haynes company. It was launched on 14 May 1928 and circulated until mid-1967, when there was an unsuccessful attempt to convert it into an evening paper. Its publication during the Infamous Decade (1930–1943) provided reporting at a time of instability and repression. After Juan Perón's election in 1946, the publishing company was taken over by Peronistas, who forced the paper to take their line. Publisher Editorial Haynes (Haynes Publishing) was founded by Albert Haynes, an Englishman who came to Argentina in 1887 to work for the British-owned Buenos Aires Western Railway. Deciding to settle, he entered into publishing, launching the magazine ''El Hogar (the Home)'', which became a great success. Mitsou Annie Marie Gélinas (born September 1, 1970, in Loretteville, Quebec) is a Canadian pop singer, businesswoman, television and radio host, and actress. She is credited as Mitsou Gélinas when acting, but records simply as Mitsou (the French spelling of ''Mitsu'', which means honey in Japanese). Biography Born in Loretteville, Quebec, Mitsou is the granddaughter of Quebec actor and playwright Gratien Gélinas. She got involved in acting and modelling as a child notably in the French-Canadian soap opera ''Terre humaine'', but also began to pursue singing in her teenage years. In 1988, she signed with Canadian independent Isba Records and released her first single, "Bye Bye Mon Cowboy" (composed and produced by Jean-Pierre Isaac), which became a pop hit across Canada, an extremely rare feat for a francophone song, in 1989. ''El Mundo'' is a Venezuelan evening newspaper. It was launched on 3 February 1958 in Caracas, shortly after the end of the dictatorship of Marcos Pérez Jiménez on 23 January 1958. It was founded by Miguel Ángel Capriles Ayala, who had launched ''Últimas Noticias'' in 1941. Its first director was journalist and future President Ramón José Velásquez. For most of its existence ''El Mundo'' was the only Venezuelan evening newspaper; a rival, ''April'', was launched by Bloque DeArmas in 1997 but closed in 2003. Another rival, ''Tal Cual'', was launched by Teodoro Petkoff in 2000 after Petkoff had for a time been director of ''El Mundo''. ''El Mundo'' () was "an anti-''Popular'', conservative broadsheet" Puerto Rican newspaper founded in 1919 by Romualdo Real. Its slogan was "Verdad y Justicia" (Truth and Justice). In 1929, former corrector-turned-administrator Angel Ramos and journalist José Coll Vidal, bought the newspaper when Real retired. In 1946 Ramos was the sole owner of the newspaper. Acquisitions ''El Mundo'' acquired WKAQ AM, the oldest radio station on the island, and later added WKAQ-TV channel 2. ''El Mundo'' also established WKAQ-FM, but it is unknown if the current station at 104.7 MHz was part of the operation in the Ramos days. The paper's radio operations were owned by "El Mundo Broadcasting", and the television station was owned by Telemundo; the Telemundo name would later be used by a mainland group of stations for the namesake Telemundo network now owned by NBC Universal, which also owns WKAQ-TV.
